Privacy Policy

Last updated: 23 July 2026

GoalPace is an iOS app that plans your race pace, fueling schedule, and training paces from a goal finish time. This policy explains, accurately and completely, what the app does with data.

The short version: GoalPace collects no personal data. It has no account system, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, and no network connection of any kind. Nothing you enter in the app is ever transmitted anywhere.

Who is responsible

GoalPace is developed and published by:

Felix Bergmann (independent developer, Austria)
Email: [email protected]

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the "controller" is the person responsible for processing your personal data. Because GoalPace never transmits your data off your device, the developer never receives or processes any personal data about you. The contact above is provided for transparency and for any questions you may have.

Information the app stores on your device

To remember where you left off between launches, GoalPace saves a small set of values directly on your device, using Apple's standard app storage (UserDefaults):

  • your chosen race distance and goal finish time,
  • your race date, if you set one,
  • your fueling settings (carbs per gel, hourly carb target, pre-race fuel toggle),
  • your units preference (kilometers or miles),
  • your appearance choice (light or dark),
  • whether you have completed the one-time onboarding.

This information:

  • never leaves your device, because the app contains no networking code at all;
  • is never sent to the developer or to any third party;
  • is not linked to your identity, because the developer never receives it and the app uses no identifiers of any kind;
  • is deleted when you delete the app.

Like all iOS app data, these values are included in your own device backups (iCloud or local), under your control and Apple's backup encryption. That is standard iOS behavior, not something GoalPace configures or can access.

Legal basis for processing

None is required, because no personal data is processed by the developer. The values above are stored locally at your own instigation, solely so the app works as you set it up, and are accessible to no one but you.

Permissions

GoalPace requests no iOS permissions. It does not access your location, health data, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, or notifications, and it will never show you a permission prompt.

Third-party services, analytics, and crash reporting

GoalPace uses none. No analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no advertising networks, no cloud sync, no third-party code of any kind.

One thing worth knowing: if you have enabled "Share With App Developers" in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple, not GoalPace, may collect crash and usage data from your device and provide it to developers in aggregated or anonymized form. That collection is controlled entirely by you and by Apple, is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and happens whether or not an app does any data collection of its own. GoalPace contains no code that participates in, reads, or depends on it.

Cookies

GoalPace contains no web content and uses no cookies.

Tracking

GoalPace does not track you, as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework or otherwise. It contains no advertising identifiers, no fingerprinting, and shares no data with data brokers or ad networks. Its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected."

International transfers

None. Your data never leaves your device, so it is never transferred anywhere, internationally or otherwise.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Because the developer holds no data about you, there is nothing the developer could hand over, correct, or delete on your behalf. Every piece of data the app knows lives on your device, where you can change it in the app or erase it completely by deleting the app.

You are still welcome to contact [email protected] with any privacy question. If you believe your rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Austria this is the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at).

Children's privacy

GoalPace does not collect data from anyone, including children. It requires no account and no personal information to use.

Security

The strongest protection your data has is that it never leaves your device. Within the device, it is stored in the app's private sandbox, protected by iOS's standard app isolation and your device's encryption.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of GoalPace ever adds a feature that involves data collection, for example cloud sync or opt-in analytics, this policy will be updated before that version is released, the "Last updated" date will change, and the App Store privacy label will be updated to match. The current version of this policy always describes the current version of the app.
